EXPRESSIVE SEASCAPES

PLEIN AIR PAINTING WEEKEND IN ST IVES

Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th September 2024

Two-day outdoor landscape drawing and painting course in St Ives, Cornwall.  We will take a walking tour of St Ives, using mixed media approaches to create expressive seascapes capturing the beauty and wildness of this iconic coastline.

Day 1: 10am-1:30pm – Mixed Media Approaches, The Island; 1:30-2:15pm – lunch break; 2:15-4:30pm – Harbour Sketches: Exploring Abstraction

Day 2: 10am-12:30 – Painting On Porthmeor; 12:30-1:30 Reflective Practice (Mariners Gallery); 1:30-2pm – lunch break; 2-4:30pm – “Taking a line for a walk”: Line, tone & rhythm at Porthgwidden

Please wear warm old clothes and bring something to sit on.  All materials provided, all abilities welcome.  Meet at Mariners’ Gallery, St Ives Society of Artists.

PAINTING ON THE COAST

Sunday 30th June & Saturday 6th July, 2-5pm

Open your senses and explore the relationship between land and sea in this outdoor painting workshop. Using a mindful, playful and expressive approach, we will paint on the coast in acrylics and mixed media. Please wear warm old clothes and bring something to sit on. All materials provided, all abilities welcome. 

Meet at Gunwalloe (Church Cove National Trust car park, TR12 7QE), to paint on location at a site of archaeological importance surrounded by dunes, beaches, a medieval church and a reedbed rich in wildlife.
